Schevenings Orange Palette

This is an interesting palette with a very strong orange. It wouldn’t have seemed as strong as it is had I not mixed the colors according to the scheme that I am using.

There are a few nice flesh tones here with the yellow ochre, other yellows and cadmium red, as well as raw umber, ultramarine and cobalt blue.  Most of these tones come out in the lowest value after adding white.

There are nice pinks and rose colors in the red family.

The blues mix with orange to produce some very nice dark browns.  Addition of white bring out some curious colors. Caribbean blue yields very interesting gunmetal deep grey. It is a nice dark and the high value colors are rich.

Cobalt Violet also yields some nice flesh tones that are perhaps even better than those with yellow ochre.
